Downward Dog Yoga Centre says
Our Sequencing and the Art of Teaching Training this year will be held over four weekends. Attend any of the weekend modules as individual workshops or sign up for the full 80 hour training.

This training is designed to inspire you to teach safely and effectively, the ancient practice of Vinyasa Yoga. We will explore in detail specific groupings of poses for First, Second and Third series' of Ashtanga Yoga, in terms of the specific movements that take us from one pose to another to create a seamless flow. As we become more aware of the connection beween poses, the general oveall shape of a dynamic yoga class, then we can begin to explore variations that promote creativity and insight.

May 27 - 29 // Sun salutations
June 3 - 5 // Standing poses
June 17 - 19 // Seated poses
June 24 - 26 // Backbends and finishing postures

Refining The Teaching Methodology - Pedagogy
As we learn to integrate and refine our teaching skills, we become a more effective guide to others. We will spend time in discussion around the ethics and language of teaching.

Understanding The ‘Vinyasa’ Within A Pose
By breaking down each pose into a sequence of stages, we are better able to help students and teachers understand “working versions” of the poses, and the steps they may need to take to complete them.

Sequencing for Levels, Style & Themes
We will outline the parameters for teaching different class levels, from beginners up to advanced practitioners. We will work with “themes” in classes, and to begin to construct workshop ideas.

Practice Teaching
In a classroom setting you get to explore effective cues and sequencing ideas without having the same pressure as teaching a public class.
