ABOUT SHEIKHA HOOR AL QASIMI

An artist herself, Qasimi has expanded the region’s art and culture outreach to a wide audience through her work as the President of the Sharjah Art Foundation and organiser of the Sharjah Bienniale. With Qasimi’s focus on local engagement within a global community, it’s little wonder that the New York Times has taken note of her talent in “gentle transgression”.

In addition to her position at the Foundation, Qasimi’s impressive resume includes an active role on the boards of leading art organizations worldwide and, most recently, as curator of the UAE’s National Pavilion at the 56th Venice Biennale in 2015. When it comes to contemporary art in the UAE, Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi is the person to know.
Murray Whyte, The Toronto Star art critic and cultural journalist will engage Hoor Al Qasimi in a Q&A following her presentation.
