When the wife of the Shogun's Decapitator is murdered and he is ordered to commit suicide by the paranoid Shogun, he and his four-year-old son escape and become assassins for hire, embarking on a journey of blood and violent death.

What's this!? The Carlton Midnight Society is screening an English dubbed and re-edited version of a Japanese classic? You're damn right, we are! And for one good reason, SHOGUN ASSASSIN is the film we all watched growing up and hold dear to our grindhouse loving hearts.

Spoken about in tones of reverence and immortalized in the music of the GZA and Wu-Tang Clan, SHOGUN ASSASSIN, if nothing else, is an absolute masterpiece in film editing insofar as it forges footage from the first two LONE WOLF AND CUB films to present a film that rivals the original in every single way, shape and form.

And be sure to arrive early for our 11pm pre-show which will consist of a 30-minute reel of kung-fu, martial arts and grindhouse trailers programmed by Rory Macdiarmid, projectionist extraordinaire of the Mayfair Theatre in Ottawa fame!
