The 519 says

What makes a safe space “safe”, and who gets to be in it? How can we make spaces safe for each other? How do we even talk about safe space when space is so vast, complex, constantly changing, and full of flying comets? How can we re-imagine space in a way that doesn’t necessarily put the sun in the centre and Pluto on the outskirts?

The Pluto Project at The 519, for aliens, astronauts, and other space folk, will use theatre games, writing exercises, and shadow puppet activities to ask these questions, play together, and discover a new universe of possibilities. Each of the four weeks will be drop-in - come to some or all. Together we will build characters, create scenes, and tell stories from our lives, our imaginations, and all of the places in between. At the end, we’ll share what we have made together. This space will be affirming, capacity-building, empowering, and will include artistically exciting conversations about belonging, community, inclusion and self-naming.

Facilitators: Nikki Shaffeeullah amd Sasha Tate-Howarth
