Open Heart Surgery Theatre says
A new physical theatre piece, combining collage and live music, two actors and a cellist take audiences on a journey of fragmented and visceral encounters with the world. Inspired by the words of Polish poet, Wislawa Szymborska, This Is Why We Live delights audiences with a surreal performance that celebrates a great female voice of the 20th century.

A collective creation developed by the ensemble during residencies at Plateau 31 in Paris, France and Old Vic New Voices in the UK, Open Heart Surgery Theatre is excited to present This Is Why We Live to Canadian audiences in co-production with UK's Tara Arts and France’s Théâtre de L’Enfumeraie, supported by The Polish Consulate and The Canada Council for the Arts.

As part of This is Why We Live's Toronto run, Open Heart Surgery Theatre is excited to present "Embodied Poetry", a post show talk with poets and thinkers following the show on October 8th featuring Tamara Trojanowska, Eva Stachniak, Robert Priest and Shirley Camia.
