This May, The Royal is honouring the most *overrated* actress in history with a screening of the most underrated film in history.

On May 30, join Danita Steinberg and Emily Gagne, co-hosts of What About Meryl?, for a screening of 'She-Devil'. This 1989 dark comedy (based on the Fay Weldon book 'The Life and Loves of a She-Devil') pits Meryl’s romance novelist Mary Fisher against Roseanne Barr’s housewife Ruth, as the two duke it out for the affections of a Total Dink (Ed Begley Jr. as Bob).

If you aren’t already sold on that description, we’ll also note that this movie was directed by Susan Seidelman (of 'Desperately Seeking Susan'!) and also features what may be the most incredibly pink laptop in feature film history (!!!!!!).

Be sure to arrive at the screening a bit early (7:00 pm) for a special Streep tease (a.k.a. All Meryl pre-show) as well as a—NO JOKE—Meryl costume contest! (At the very least, we expect to see a lot of cerulean in the audience.) More updates to come!

What About Meryl? is a Meryl Streep podcast. Each week we watch a Meryl movie and talk about it/her/us. New episodes are posted every Monday on iTunes, Stitcher and SoundCloud.
