Did you miss the Northern Lights taking over the sky earlier this month? That sucks. But not all is lost: We just uncovered this awesome video of the natural wonder... as seen from space. Needless to say, it's even cooler than watching the spectacle from planet Earth.

The 30-second clip was posted on YouTube by the European Space Agency and was created using images captured by astronaut Paolo Nespoli as he was "cruising" across Canada.

The video, which Nespoli shared on his personal Twitter account alongside the caption "A stunning aurora caught my eye... Its beauty is out of this world!," captures the aurora borealis's (that would be the other name for the Northern Lights) beautiful green lights.

Why green, you're wondering? According to NASA astronaut Randy Bresnik's recent Twitter post, "variations in color are due to the type of gas particles that are colliding. The most common aurora color, which is green, is produced by oxygen molecules located about 60 miles above the earth."

Super cool.
