After enduring the hassle of travel—whether by car or plane—you arrive at your hotel ready for a fresh start. A friendly, welcoming staff is key to kicking off your stay, whether it’s for business or pleasure. If you’re looking for a hotel that will make you feel right at home, the travel experts at HawaiianIslands.com have revealed a list of the friendliest hotels in the U.S.

HawaiianIslands.com analyzed millions of Tripadvisor reviews to rank hotels that are most frequently described as “friendly.” Hotels were ranked by percentage of reviews mentioning friendliness, and rankings reveal the overall friendliest hotels as well as the friendliest hotels in each state.

So which hotel is the friendliest in the U.S.? The esteemed designation goes to The Royal Sonesta Portland Downtown in Portland, Oregon, with 43.57% of reviews that mention their exceptional friendliness. Reviewers rave about the wonderful staff and their ability to put travelers at ease. The hotel’s mascot, an elk called The Viscount of Portland, welcomes “welcomes guests with open arms (and antlers).”

Three hotels follow close behind, with a friendliness rating within just 1% of the Sonesta’s: Homewood Suites in Montgomery, The Surfjack Hotel & Swim Club in Oahu and the Hotel Indigo San Diego-Gaslamp Quarter. Fitzpatrick Grand Central and Crowne Plaza Hy36 Midtown Manhattan, both in NYC, round out the top five friendliest hotels in the U.S.
