"Sweet Home Alabama" is the most popular road trip song out there (at least according to one study)

There is something about cruising down the highway with the windows down that demands for a specific set of tunes to blast out of our speakers. Road trip songs have a lot of things in common: they elicit nostalgia, make us feel all the emotions and remind us of the things we did and the places we've been to. So, what are the most popular tracks out there?

Car and bike accessory company Halfords dove into Spotify data to come up with a list of songs most folks love to play while driving. Specifically, the company analyzed over 300,000 tunes that include the terms "car," "driving" and "road trip" on the platform. Check out the results right here:

1. Lynyrd Skynyrd - "Sweet Home Alabama"
2. Journey - "Don’t Stop Believin’"
3. Eagles - "Hotel California"
4. The Killers - "Mr. Brightside"
5. Smash Mouth - "All Star"
6. Train - "Hey, Soul Sister"
7. TOTO - "Africa"
8. Bon Jovi - "Livin’ On A Prayer"
9. Miley Cyrus - "Party In The U.S.A."
10. Plain White T's - "Hey There Delilah"

We can't say the picks surprise us (although seeing "Party in the U.S.A." in the midst of a heavy-on-the-classic-rock list does raise eyebrows), but we do have our very own opinion about the whole affair—check out our own list of best road trips songs of all time right here
