The CDC is asking everyone to hold off on the spiked eggnog this holiday season

In 2020, spiked eggnog has been cancelled. Please, don't act surprised. What else were you expecting from this catastrophe of a year?

The cancellation of sorts comes courtesy of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) newly released set of guidelines concerning holiday celebrations. "Use of alcohol or drugs may alter judgment and make it more difficult to practice COVID-19 safety measures," reads the document.

But the delicious milk punch isn't the only aspect of the holidays that the agency is warning us against. In fact, the CDC also recommends we stay away from holiday carols since speaking loudly without a face mask on can cause the spread of contaminated air droplets via saliva. "Encourage guests to avoid singing or shouting, especially indoors," read the guidelines specifically. "Keep music levels down so people don't have to shout or speak loudly to be heard."

Other tips include the sort of notions that have become embedded in society for the past months: try to limit the number of people you gather with and stay six feet away from each other, host outdoors and encourage mask wearing when not eating or drinking, ask all to constantly wash hands, use touch-less garbage cans if available and "treat pets as you would other human family members." That is to say: do not let your friends pet the dog.

We're all for safety these days especially, but a Thanksgiving without spiked eggnog is really killing our vibe.
