Summer’s not even over yet, but leaf peepers are already making plans for fall. Priceline just released its ranking of the hottest fall foliage destinations for 2025, offering cool autumn inspo. The travel booking site analyzed hotel searches between October 10 and 24 in regions famous for fiery fall colors, and one spot came out on top: New York’s Hudson Valley.
Spanning 10 counties and more than 7,000 square miles just north of New York City, the Hudson Valley is practically autumn’s headquarters. Whether you’re after misty mountain hikes, pumpkin-spiced small towns or Instagram-perfect river views, this region serves it all in one golden-hued package.
RECOMMENDED: The best places to see fall foliage in the U.S.
Hardcore hikers can climb up mountain trails for sweeping views, while those looking for something less strenuous can hop on a Hudson River cruise and watch the trees blaze past from the water. For thrill-seekers, hot air balloon rides give a bird’s-eye view of autumn’s palette. Families, meanwhile, might prefer climbing aboard the Catskill Mountain Railroad’s Fall Adventure Trains.
The Valley’s towns—Beacon, Hudson, Woodstock, Rhinebeck and Catskills among them—each offer their own version of cozy fall magic. There's the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze, apple picking in sprawling orchards, sipping local wine while wrapped in a flannel blanket and antique shops that feel tailor-made for a crisp Saturday afternoon stroll.
Priceline’s top 10 list also spotlights other Northeast favorites plus scenic picks in Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Indiana and along the California/Nevada border. But if you’re chasing peak foliage, it’s hard to beat Hudson Valley’s mix of fiery forests, rolling hills and small-town charm.
