From haunted NOLA mansions to Buffalo Bill's house, we dare you to book.

Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, which means instead of just one spooky calendar date, you can extend the festive fun for a whole spine-chilling weekend. That actually seems to be the trend right now, as Airbnb says in its latest Halloween travel report that searches for Halloween weekend stays are up nearly 15-percent year over year, while searches from Gen Z travelers have jumped almost 45-percent. Halloween-themed travel wishlists are up nearly 60-percent, too, so apparently everyone is ready to spend the weekend pretending they live in a horror movie.

To feed that particular obsession this year, Airbnb has rounded up 31 stays, from witchy retreats and gothic estates to cabins in the woods and allegedly haunted houses. Here are our seven favorite Halloween-ready rentals.
Silence of the Lambs fans can book a stay at the 1910 Queen Anne Victorian that served as serial killer Buffalo Bill's house in the 1991 five-time Academy Award-winning film. The Perryopolis, Pennsylvania property comes staged with an interactive basement; lotion and basket not included.
For those who prefer their scares a little more slasher, California's Big Bear Lake offers a horror-themed cabin, complete with a replica movie bathroom, an axe in the door, ghostly special effects and an escape room.
If you can afford either a trip to Florida or a Disney World excursion but not both, get the best of both worlds with this Haunted Mansion-inspired abode in Kissimmee, where each room is an homage to the beloved attraction.
Do the work and creep yourself out at the Hewitt in Philadelphia, where the 1886 Queen Anne Victorian has an entire wing hidden behind a bookcase, perfect for jump scares.
What better place to pay homage to our own bloody history than in Salem, Massachusetts, the top trending U.S. destination for Halloween weekend, according to Airbnb. Though the booking site highlights a private room in the Salem Victorian, you'd be hard-pressed to find accommodations not scary in the town that never met a witch it didn't hate.
If you're into all things ghostly, head straight to Parks-Bowman Mansion in New Orleans, where the hosts claim a shy girl in an 1890s yellow dress wanders the halls. (NOLA was already recently dubbed the spookiest city in the U.S., so might as well go find proof!)
There's also the Historic Morgue and Paranormal Investigation in Ozark, Missouri, where you have the chance to spend the night in a building that served as a morgue, funeral home, church and museum. Even better, you can leave your ghost-hunting equipment at home; the lodgings provide a spirit box, EMF detector and dowsing rods.
So what are you waiting for? Pack your costume, some holy water, and book the haunted house of your dreams. Just hope you end up using the return trip.
