This Mexican restaurant was just named the most photogenic in the world

The US didn't make the list at all.

Going to a restaurant should be a feast for the eyes as well as the palate; that’s why restaurateurs spend so much time considering décor and even hiring interior designers to make the experience aesthetically pleasing. Tripadvisor ran a study of all its restaurant reviews from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022 to see which dining experiences were highly rated for ‘atmosphere’ and which ones included upvoted photos from patrons. From that, a list of the 25 ‘top picture perfect restaurants’ from around the world was created—and it’s great to announce that Mexico won the top spot, all thanks to Sunset Monalisa in Cabo San Lucas.

Photos show this restaurant has a gorgeous asymmetrically curved gray wooden deck overlooking the ocean, with inset water feature and planters. Best of all, the tables provide a full spread view of the setting sun and the famous Arch at Land’s End. If you turn back to look at the restaurant itself, it’s carved into a cliff face. This restaurant had more than 5,100 photographs submitted to its Tripadvisor page in the year analyzed for the study, which means a lot of diners were charmed by the visuals as well as the food. The cuisine is (of course) seafood and Mediterranean fare. Time to book a table!

We love the warm waters of Cabo San Lucas, and knowing it officially has the world’s most beautiful restaurant just pushes this destination higher on the ‘let’s return’ list.

In second place is KOMA Singapore, a contemporary styled sushi restaurant with dim interiors lit by glowing lanterns and stunning lighting fixtures, in Singapore. And in third place is 7 Thalasses in Rethymnon, Greece, another spot overlooking the water with dramatic sunset views.

Other countries with restaurants that made the Top 25 are the Dominican Republic, Aruba, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, Italy, China, Ireland, Argentina, Brazil, Croatia, Czech Republic and Thailand. And no: the United States did not make the list. Oddly, neither did France. We’ve got to improve our dining game!
