United Airlines just dropped 10 new reasons to start planning your 2027 travel budget. In the biggest international expansion in its history, United announced it's rolling out 10 brand-new routes to destinations in Europe and Asia starting next spring. This includes first-ever nonstop flights to Luxembourg and Slovenia, plus island hops to Ibiza and Sardinia and new nonstop routes to France and Japan.

Nine of the ten new spots are in Europe, featuring America's first-ever nonstop flights to Ljubljana and Luxembourg City. For a sun-soaked escape, you'll soon be able to hop on direct flights to dreamy island getaways like Ibiza and Valencia in Spain, Terceira in Portugal’s Azores, and Olbia (Sardinia) or Catania (Sicily) in Italy. If French culture is more your style, direct flights to Marseille and Toulouse are coming, too. United is also introducing nonstop flights to Okinawa.

Eight of these destinations are entirely unique to United, meaning no other U.S. airline flies to them nonstop. While San Francisco handles the Okinawa route and Washington Dulles links up with Toulouse, the majority of these new transatlantic adventures will launch out of Newark Liberty International Airport.

The driving force behind these new nonstop flights is United’s brand-new Airbus A321XLR, dubbed "Born to Explore." This long-range, single-aisle jet is designed to handle long-haul routes where massive wide-body planes might be too big. It will serve five of the new cities—including Luxembourg, Toulouse, Ibiza, Valencia and Marseille—bringing United's upgraded Polaris suites with privacy doors, Premium Plus seating and free Starlink Wi-Fi along for the ride.

On top of these new locations, United is adding connections to existing international favorites (like LAX to Osaka, Denver to Paris and Dulles to Milan) while restarting its San Francisco to Tel Aviv run. Flights are already open for booking, and most routes will be starting up between March and June 2027. So if you're planning your 2027 getaways, now is the time to start planning!

The 10 new United Airlines international destinations for 2027:

  • Catania, Italy (Sicily)

  • Ljubljana, Slovenia
  • Luxembourg
  • Marseille, France
  • Okinawa, Japan
  • Olbia, Italy (Sardinia)
