Hey, it's Randy at Carapace.

Of course you know the Aesop's fable about the fox who jumps for the grapes, fails to reach them, and then calls the grapes sour because he can't enjoy them. He says, who cares about the grapes? He doesn't want them anyway. Or so the fox claims.

I'm thinking of a certain girl in high school.

I'm thinking of a lot of things.

Bring a story five to seven minutes long about what you wanted but didn't get, and then pretended not to want. Or what you still want but wish you could pretend you no longer desire. That's hard.

Or bring a story about someone in your life who affected you in that sour-grapes way. In your family, on the job, in your romantic life. They craved but denied the craving and faked their hunger. Maybe you know what I'm talking about.

Come to Manuel's Tavern, won't ya? The phenomenal Cris Gray will host! Am I gay to love him this much? (He's married. Sour grapes.)

Carapace is free as always, with no judging of any kind. You, our people, bring the sweet and sad and hilarious beauty to this event. As you have for more than seven years now.

We look forward to seeing you again.
