Cliterati Open No Mic Featuring "Slam Up"

Charis and Cliterati pair up to present an inviting and fierce open mic & reading series on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Hosted by the anarchic spoken word team of Karen G and Theresa Davis, members of the Art Amok Slam Team, this series cultivates the voices of authors, novices and an assortment of poets, songstresses and storytellers. February's featured performers are "Slam Up:" This musical remix of comedy, poetry, and improv is presented by childhood friends Cali Bulmash and Emily Lowinger. Cali is a poet who has participated in slams across the country and Emily is a stand-up comedian who wields a guitar. When the two reunited at the Bonnaroo music festival in Tennessee they decided to turn themselves into a performance duo to reckon with. Cali and Emily took Slam Up on the road in 2014, performing 85 times in 35 states (plus Washington DC and Canada) over the course of two DIY tours. Between tours they performed in the 2014 New York International Fringe Festival, traveled to Omaha for Love Fest in the Midwest, and recorded their debut album, Same Brain. They are currently in the midst of recording music videos and planning 2015. This is a From Margin to Center Literary Program; suggested donation is $5
