Curate Presents: A November Writing Workshop says
The Curate team is bringing you our first ever writing workshop series kicking offf on November 5! The Curate team aims to provide space for artists to not only share their work, but also have an opportunity to create new work. November's theme is "feast or famine" and will be facilitated by the amazing Tawny Powell (who will also be cohosting the following Friday's open mic)!

Tawny Powell is an artist, activist, and serious Atlanta Foodie. She serves as Manager of Homebuyer Education and Counseling for Committed to Communities, Board Member for the budding nonprofit Diverse Groups, and is a Teen Slam coach for youth through the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta.

She just finished co-organizing The National Poetry Slam, which is the largest slam poetry event in the country, in downtown Decatur.
She's got 2 chapbooks under her belt: Long Winters Baby and Breaking the Barge, is former Java Monkey Slam Champion 2013, and has featured at various open mics in Atlanta, South Carolina, Kansas City, MO and her hometown of Worcester, MA. Her goal in poetry is to connect self to society in ways beyond her own individual experiences, speaking about broader socio-political, economic, geographic, transcultural issues.
