*About the class, from James:
Post-Contemporary Technique is a silent form of training that borrows an infinite number of materials from a variety of disciplines. The guide (instructor) generates a fractured practice constantly shifting mediums to offer a broad landscape of experiences including but in no way limited to traditional/ commercial/ folk/ classical/ social/ (post)modernist dance, sports/ martial arts training, meditation/ presence/ transcendence work, voice/ sound/ face projection, compositional/ improvisational scores, hair braiding and anything else existing as a source of technique or point of departure. Once lost in the shapeshifting abyss, we depart from this practice to work on building a phrase of referential juxtaposition, naming events as they solidify, working toward building a collage/mosaic of morphing images.
