Time Out says

Tuesday, February 24, 2015 Rival Entertainment Presents: ECHOSMITH with The Colourist Doors 7 / Show 8 / All Ages $15/Adv, $18/Day Of Show LA-based alt-pop band Echosmith is having a breakout 2014, with the success of their debut album Talking Dreams and hit single “Cool Kids” propelling them into the spotlight. Both MTV and VH1 have taken notice and named the band an MTV “Artist to Watch” and VH1 “You Oughta Know” Artist for the year, while “Cool Kids” continues to explode and is charting in the Top 5 at Hot AC, Top 10 at Top 40, and in the Top 10 of the iTunes singles chart. Echosmith has also been all over TV, from Conan to The Today Show and Ellen. The Sierota siblings – Jamie (vocals/guitar), Sydney (vocals/keyboard), Noah (vocals/bass), and Graham (drums) – have developed a distinctive melody-minded, New Wave-influenced sound that has earned them rave reviews. Rolling Stone loves their “teenage daydreams inspired by new wave angst and California sunshine,” ELLE.com has declared “Cool Kids” an “ageless anthem,” while Esquire attests, “Rest assured, this is a group you’re going to be hearing about for a long time. Echosmith is the real deal, and so, a rarity.” The Colourist first stumbled upon one another in an underused warehouse in Orange County, CA, where Adam and Maya discovered the harmonic chemistry that has come to define the band’s bright and anthemic signature sound. Having spent much of 2012 honing their live show with the likes of Grouplove, Electric Guest and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., The Colourist begin 2013 holed up in a small studio in Southern California. It’s there that Adam Castilla (vocals, guitar), Maya Tuttle (drums, vocals), Kollin Johannsen (guitar, bass), and Justin Wagner (bass, keys) committed their pop-fueled, indie-bred rock to tape before embarking on their first tour which included appearances at Coachella along with support shows with Metric and Youngblood Hawke and Atlas Genius.
