Despite his busy touring schedule, Cook has released multiple albums of his own, including: “The Year I Grew Up” and “On Mountain Time.” “North Star,” his third and most recent solo release, was co-produced by Clay Cook and Matt Mangano, and includes collaborations with John Mayer, The Wood Brothers, Steel Magnolia and Clare Bowen, with Zac Brown serving as executive producer.

Cook attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts where he formed Lo-Fi Masters with John Mayer, and co-wrote several songs which would later appear on Mayer's record “Room for Squares,” including: "No Such Thing," "Why Georgia," "Comfortable,” "Love Song for No One" and "Neon."

Later, Cook would move back to Georgia to start producing and engineering records for various artists while also touring with Sugarland, Shawn Mullins and The Marshall Tucker Band.

Cook joined Zac Brown Band full-time in late 2008. Since then, the Georgia seven-piece has become one of music's most heralded acts. Following their triple-platinum major-label debut, “The Foundation” (Atlantic Records/Home Grown/Big Picture), the band released “You Get What You Give” (Atlantic/Southern Ground) and won the Best Country Collaboration GRAMMY Award for their #1 hit single "As She's Walking Away" with Alan Jackson. Zac Brown Band’s third studio album, “Uncaged” (Atlantic/Southern Ground), debuted at #1 with first week sales of 234K copies – the best in the band’s history. Together, these albums have produced a historic series of nine consecutive #1 hit singles, and since 2009, garnered over 50 GRAMMY, ACM, AMA, CMA and CMT award nominations.

In 2012, Cook relocated to Nashville, Tennessee. When not on tour with Zac Brown Band, he can be found at Zac Brown’s Southern Ground Nashville recording studio on Music Row.
