Yoga therapy is growing as a profession world-wide due to its success as an integrative healing practice. Combining the philosophy and practices of yoga with the latest research and practices of medicine, pain science, psychology and lifestyle change, yoga therapy offers a unique and multidimensional path to create health, transformation and well-being. Join The Center for Integrative Yoga Studies for an informational and experiential workshop to learn more about the Ys of therapeutic yoga. This workshop is beneficial for anyone exploring the applications and benefits of yoga therapy including healthcare, medical, and wellness professionals interested in the therapeutic practices of yoga as well as students or teachers who may be interested in learning more about yoga's therapeutic effects or is interested in becoming certified as a therapeutic 200-hour or 500-hour yoga teacher. During this 3 hour workshop, we will discuss the benefits and applications of yoga as a healing modality. You will learn the research behind the effectiveness of yoga for a variety of issues including musculoskeletal pain, chronic pain, anxiety, depression and trauma. Using yoga client case studies, we will delve into the integration of yoga philosophy, principles and practices with biomedical research on how to heal from these issues. We will look at the profession of yoga therapy and how it is unique and compliments many healing modalities. Participants will further have an opportunity to explore a full therapeutic yoga practice to experience first-hand the stability and strength, openness, and peace of mind inspired by yoga’s powerful healing techniques. Workshop is presented by Marlysa Sullivan, Tra Kirkpatrick, and Holle Black, co-founders of The Center for Integrative Yoga Studies. The Center for Integrative Yoga Studies offers 200-hour Therapeutic and Meditative Yoga Teacher Training and 500-hour advanced therapeutic training.
