Join the Pentorship and our friends at Center For Civic Innovation, as we explore an experiment to allow incarcerated people to access college degrees. We will host the 30 minute documentary First Degree, followed by a deep group discussion on the state of available educational resources for incarcerated people in our own city.

About the Film

FIRST DEGREE, an award-winning half-hour documentary about a college behind bars that prevents released inmates from returning to prison. The film takes viewers inside Sing Sing maximum security prison and introduces them to some unforgettable inmates. FIRST DEGREE is produced and directed by Roger Weisberg, whose 31 previous documentaries have won over a hundred and fifty awards including Emmy, duPont-Columbia, and Peabody awards, as well as two Academy Award nominations. FIRST DEGREE builds on Weisberg's extensive body of work and represents the culmination of almost four decades of documenting the struggles, aspirations, and achievements of disadvantaged Americans.
