Come join VSA and the Brothers of Xi Kappa Fraternity, Inc. as we welcome NAAPIMHA, the National Asian-American Pacific-Islander Mental Health Association. We'll have several great guest speakers as well as some fun, insightful workshops including plenty of FREE food and t-shirts!
This retreat addresses the continuum of mental health problems on campus, the need to develop programming efforts to support AANHPI students, and increase access to educational materials for understanding mental health among Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islander students.
Among all ethnicities, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are the least likely to seek help for mental disorders. Asian cultural values of self-reliance and reservation and fear of shaming the family keep many from seeking assistance with emotional problems.
College can be a stressful, anxiety inducing experience, but you don't have to go through it alone. We hope this retreat provides some guidance and resources to everyone who is or may be affected by any mental health disorder.
