Videodrome says
Javadrome is proud to present Toshio Matsumoto's surreal underground classic, Funeral Parade of Roses.

A landmark feature of Japanese gay subculture in the sixties, Funeral Parade of Roses left a big impression on Stanley Kubrick, who cited the film as an inspiration for A Clockwork Orange. Matsumoto's "neo-documentary" shines a piercing light onto the Shinjuku underground, alongside a fancifully bizarre reimagining of Oedipus Rex.

After 40 years of being locked away in the vaults of obscurity, it remains one of the ultimate enigmas in cult film history. In fact, to this day, it has never been given a proper DVD release in the United States, and has only became available on the foreign market several years ago.

We're supremely hyped about this screening, and we hope you'll join us on July 29. Limited seating is available, so it's advised to arrive 15-20 minutes before showtime. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
