SoPo exists for the community and a part of supporting a community includes providing a safe space for all members of the community who visit the shop or volunteer. SoPo recognizes the advantages of providing workshops and shop hours that are only available to self-identified women, trans, and genderqueer folks as a way to effectively accomplish a greater sense of confidence and comfort within the shop. Jacqui and Tonee host Ladies, Trans, & Genderqueer Sundays every week at SoPo.
ABC Quick Check is a method of checking your bike to ensure road safety & road readiness. We’ll cover the the basics of what to look for before you ride. We’ll be providing visual, verbal, & hands-on demonstrations of each topic.
Workshop: Ageless interAction
@ The Big House Theater
2:00-3:00pm
http://www.facebook.com/agelessinteraction
The mission of Ageless interAction is to create an age positive society by connecting generations together in creative and collaborative environments that improve quality of life. At our organization, Ageless interAction, we create opportunities for young adults and adults 65+ to interact in creative and collaborative ways. We do yoga, art workshops, cooking classes, etc… really fun stuff! We often do crafts and art workshops at long-term care facilities such as nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
We will gather a group together to paint/create a ‘community canvas’ spanning across all generations (with specific interest in young and adults 65+) and sexualities. Through the workshop, we will be able to connect people of all generations and sexualities together in a unique way that has never been done before. This is an amazing opportunity to engage young adults with adults 65+ in a creative way that engages all participants to think about age differently.
