Laura Patricia Calle Day says
The city of Atlanta has officially declared August 21st, 2016 as Laura Patricia Calle day. She used her passion for art as a medium to foster and promote culture in the city of Atlanta. Living Walls created an art grant in her name to honor her blood, sweat, and tears that she poured into the community. The art grant is given to a chosen artist/ art collectives for a public art project that represent subjects of social equality, feminism, immigrants’ rights, LGBTQ rights, and cultural diversity.
In honor of Laura Patricia Calle day, the Calle family and Living Walls invite you to join us at 97 Estoria on August, 21 at 6:30 PM to celebrate her life and legacy and also for the annual announcement of the Laura Patricia Calle grant winner. Just as Laura would’ve wanted, there will be latin music, food available, and a drag show.
We ask that each person bring flowers to place at her mural where there will also be a lighting of the mural in respects to our late artist advocate and human rights activist. We hope to see you there!
