VENUE CHANGE! Join us at the Atlanta Masonic Center and explore this midcentury gem!

The ambitious 1952 annexation, which brought the Buckhead area into the city of Atlanta, included over 50,000 acres of land and added approximately 100,000 new residents. By far the largest annexation in its history, it tripled the size of the city. Breaking with neoclassical precedent, the new architecture along Peachtree reflected the ambition of the age.

This Forum, co-sponsored with Atlanta Regional Commission, will focus on the buildings constructed between 1940 and 1990 along Peachtree Road in Atlanta. A free lecture in the Atlanta Masonic Center auditorium will introduce the context of the time and the area. (Parking allowed behind the building.) An optional bus tour will be offered that traces the development history of this corridor and highlights over 25 notable structures along the five miles between the historic Brookwood area to the iconic Lenox Square.

* The one-hour lecture is FREE and open to the public, but please register at the above link to reserve your space.

* Registration is REQUIRED to attend the bus tour, which is limited to 30 participants and costs $15/person. The above link contains registration information. The bus tour will depart at approx. 11:30 and will be approx. 45 minutes long.
