Are you interested in establishing a meditation practice in the New Year but are unsure how to begin? Are you stressed out, overworked, or burned out and ready to change your habits? Are you looking for a way to slow down & tap into a greater sense of calm & peace? Are you seeking tools to help you be more present in your daily life? If you answered yes to any of the questions above, then this workshop is for you!

This Four-week New Years Meditation Series will give you a foundation for creating a home meditation practice. Each session will include instructions for a different mindfulness meditation technique, so you will have a variety of tools to try out. The group will include periods of instruction, guided meditation, and discussion each week. (Don't worry, you will not be asked to meditate for 90 mins straight!) You will slowly increase the length of time spent in meditation from week to week. You will leave each session with additional guidance to address obstacles and deepen your home meditation practice. Working as a group, we will share experiences and support one another on this path of awakening to presence.

Each Wednesday evening (Jan 13, 20, 27, and Feb 3rd) join Meryl Arnett for a 30-minute sitting. Each week Meryl will facilitate the meditation and provide the opportunity for questions and discussion after.

Each Sunday evening (Jan 10, 24, 31 and Feb 7) join Liz Wilder for the workshops digging deeper into the elements of meditation detailed below:

Week 1 - Sunday, January 10th, 2016, 6:30-8:00 pm
Introduction to meditation: focusing on the breath and improving concentration. Beginning to cultivate awareness of thoughts. Guidance on starting a regular meditation practice.

Week 2 - Sunday, January 24th, 2016, 6:30-8:00 pm
Meditation on sounds: using sounds in the environment as an anchor for attention. Group check-in on barriers to regular meditation practice with guidance to address any recurring obstacles.

Week 3 - Sunday, January 31st, 2016, 6:30- 8:00 pm
Walking meditation: an embodied experience of presence. Check in on barriers to regular meditation practice and sharing of observations on how meditation may have affected other aspects of life and yoga.

Week 4 - Sunday, Februrary 7th, 2016, 6:30-8:00 pm
Lovingkindness (metta) meditation: expanding the heart to oneself & others. Setting intentions for ongoing meditation practice & ideas for how to support the development of mindfulness in daily life.
