No Knock Warrants: A Hearing On Hb56

Time Out says

One of the most important bills in MMGA's law enforcement reform package is a bill that would radically change the way no knock warrants work in Georgia, we call the bill, "Bou Bou's Law" after the innocent baby was perminently disfigured during a botched no knock warrant(read more about that case: https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/justice-for-baby-bounekahm-bou-bou-phonesavanh) Our bill was introduced in the Senate, another version was introduced in the house; HB 56 In it's current for HB 56 has no teeth We need to testify at the hearing. Make it clear the language needs to change. In its current form there is no real penalty for breaking this law, and evidence collected in an illegal no knock can still be used. Passing HB 56 would be ceremonial at best. Help us send a message that we want real change, real accountability in our communities. We know this is happening at the same time as some MMGA meetings are set up with specific law makers to talk about Medicaid Expansion, those meetings still need to and will happen. The Legislative sessions moves quick, and we have to move with it, we ask that those who can come to this 60 minute hearing do. Capitol room 132
