BURNAWAY is excited to announce an upcoming talk by New York and London-based writer Orit Gat. She writes about contemporary art, publishing, Internet culture, and the different meeting points between these for a variety of publications, including frieze, ArtReview, Art Agenda, Flash Art, The Art Newspaper, The Brooklyn Rail, and Modern Painters.

Her talk, “What Is a Publication Today?,” will explore the changing landscape of publishing after the Internet, chronicling new forms of publishing introduced online and their effect on writing and its publics. She asks whether or not the internet has irreversibly changed the way we write, and considers the role of and place for art and art writing online.

Orit Gat is currently the features editor of Rhizome, the managing editor of WdW Review and aCCeSsions, and contributing editor at The White Review and Momus. In 2015, she was awarded a Creative Capital/Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant in the short-form writing category. Gat teaches at CCS Bard and the City College of New York and organizes a reading group focused on art magazines which meets monthly in New York to read a single issue of a different art magazine every time.
