***If you want to register, email LiftForLIfeWWP@gmail.com*** Thank you for your consideration in participation or volunteering at the first annual Lift for Life powerlifting competition hosted by the Pierce Results Club to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project! We are a small group of Chiropractic students at Life University functioning as Student Ambassadors for the WWP. In hopes of raising money for the WWP and bringing the community together we are excited to host this local event! Why: To raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project. To honor and empower post-9/11 veterans. http://youtu.be/q3GkvQfrZD8 8:00 am Weigh-in 9:30 am Rules prep with the Judges and lifters 10:00 am start lifting We hope to conclude by 3:00 pm and host the Trophy Ceremony What: Powerlifting competition – Squat, Bench and Deadlift - three attempts at each of the three lifts (9 total attempts). How much: $50 for individual lifter registration and an additional $60 for each team (maximum of 5 lifters per team). We hope to have teams representing several local Universities, Gyms and Service Stations including the Fire Department, Police Department and Air Force Base. Neither the PRS club nor the hosting gym (Crossfit on the square) receives any financial reimbursement for hosting this event. How you submit registration:Either via Cash or Check made out to Pierce Results Club (we collect the funds and make one large donation via our Student Ambassadors account). A third option is online via our “Rally the troops” page:https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/individual-fundraising/LiftForLifeWWP/ What that gets you: A reserved spot to participate in the meet, an event T-Shirt for you to show your support and a “goody bag” stocked with some WWP stuff and donations from local businesses! What you should wear: Singlet’s are preferable but gym shorts with a tucked in (and preferably tighter fitting) shirt is perfectly acceptable. Knee high socks for the deadlift (these will be available for sale at the event). Belts and Knee Sleeves are allowed. Squat suits, bench suits, deadlift suits or knee wraps are not allowed. This is a raw meet and as a fundraiser event we want to make it available to all lifters, not just those owning singlets. Winning: Winners are selected via the “Wilks Coefficient”– a scoring system that compares total weight lifted to body weight. Team Winning: The team with the highest combined Wilks Score wins. If a team has fewer than 5 lifters, the teams Wilks’ scores will be averaged and then multiplied by 5. Weight classes: None, because we are using the Wilks Coefficient, the strongest per pound lifters will win. We will also be inviting vendor sponsors to the event including some great local restaurants who will set up food tents! Who can join: Everyone is welcome to attend this event! To encourage the highest attendance possible we have made it an open invitation, free event! It is our hope to get the community as actively engaged as possible so invite your friends and family out for support! Remember: While every good lifter aims to set some personal records at each meet; this event is a fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project. We want enthusiastic involvement from all participants, personal records or not, the veterans we help honor and empower are the real reason for this event. #WWPStudentAmbassadors (Official Hashtag) #LiftForLifeWWP ***If you want to register, email LiftForLIfeWWP@gmail.com***
