Roger Guenveur Smith: Rodney King says
Obie Award-winning actor-writer Roger Guenveur Smith brings his acclaimed solo show Rodney King to the Ferst Center for the ArtsTHIS WEEKEND, FOR TWO PERFORMANCES ONLY.

From the initial incident of police brutality to the controversial trial verdict to the eruption of the L.A. riots and beyond, Smith paints an achingly beautiful portrait of a man and the moment that set a city afire, capturing the life of a flawed, good-hearted everyman who unintentionally became the nation's first reality TV star.

This gripping and timely work features a performer -- whose credits include the films Chi-Raq, Malcolm X, and American Gangster, and the HBO series Oz -- at the height of his powers.

The Rodney King story stirs up questions about many issues, from current-day police actions and court cases to the ethics of filming and media response. Each performance features a post-show discussion. Please note this performance contains adult language and may not be suitable for all audiences.

For all non-GT students, as well as for GT Staff and Faculty, tickets are now available at the special discount price of $10 (limit two per student/faculty/staff).
Regular price tickets are $20-$30.

Please purchase in person from the Ferst Center Box Office, M-F, 10-6, (and one hour before show time). GT employees must present your BuzzCard for ID.
