The event creator says
Come out for the culminating performance of the Atlanta Southeastern Theater of the Oppressed Training! Theater of the Oppressed (TO) holds that there are no spectators, only spect-actors. At this performance, TO workshop participants and spect-actors will work together to engage with instances of oppression through forum theater.

The performance will feature a few scenes that Southern Fried Theatre of the Oppressed participants have created based on instances of oppression relevant to their own lives. Spect-actors are encouraged to engage with and discuss the pieces.

The event will be held at the Atlanta Friends Meeting House (701 W. Howard Ave, Decatur, GA 30030). We'll be collecting donations to help cover the costs of the training, but no one will be turned away. The event is open to the public, so please bring your friends!

Forum Theatre: In forum theatre, actors create short scenes that are performed for an audience of spect-actors, the term TO uses for an engaged and participating audience member. The scenes present instances of oppression with the spect-actors then work to interrupt by entering the scene and acting out their idea of how to solve the problem. Forum Theatre brings out the collective wisdom of a community around various issues and can be used as a rehearsal for real-life approaches to oppression.
