More:

Despite Sibelius’ insistence his Symphony No. 2 conveyed no specific message, the Finnish people have long seen it as a forceful expression of patriotism.

In Different River, a work commissioned and premiered by Maestro Spano and the ASO, Mr. Singleton depicts “an ever-changing perspective on a river that is always moving…Each time you step in you’re at a different place.”

The Grieg Piano Concerto opens with one of the most famous and dramatic moments in concert music, and closes with a brilliant finale based upon the halling, a lively Norwegian folk dance.
