Special Tour: Historic Fourth Ward Park W/ Kevin Burke says
Join Urban Explorers of Atlanta and Kevin Burke, Senior Landscape Architect of the Atlanta BeltLine, Inc., for a special guided tour of Historic Fourth Ward Park that will reveal how this remarkable green space was created and now promotes the ecological health of Atlanta’s urban ecosystem.

ALL GUESTS MUST REGISTER AT http://uxatl.com/event-2373956

Our tour will begin at the north end of the pond, next to the water fall closest to North Avenue. Please watch this Historic Fourth Ward Park video before the tour.

In an area that was a paved parking lot, today’s Historic Fourth Ward Park (H4WP) has a 2-acre lake with specially selected native trees and plants that mitigate storm water runoff while reducing the need for irrigation and chemicals.

Mr. Burke has been the Senior Landscape Architect for Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. since early 2009, and has thirty-four years of professional experience on a range of institutional, roadway, college and university, residential, and park projects. He oversees most day-to-day design and construction efforts for all public open spaces of the project. Currently, he is the Construction Manager for the 3 mile Westside Trail and will sit 2nd chair on the 1.5 mile extension of the widely popular Eastside Trail. He was the lead organizer of ABI’s Annual Organic Land Care Symposium which sought to inform the public and practitioners about the path towards a more sustainable way of maintaining our public spaces. Mr. Burke has a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Utah State University and is a NOFA (Northeast Organic Farming Association) Accredited Organic Land Care Professional.
