Tamborrada Festival 2017 says
La Tamborrada is a festival held annually on January 20, in San Sebastián, Spain. At midnight, the town gathers in Konstituzio Plaza in Old Town to celebrate the raising of the San Sebastián flag, which signals the beginning of the 24-hour festival. From midnight to midnight, the streets come alive with Donostiarras, or the people of San Sebastian, who dress as cooks and soldiers and march in drumming groups across various parts of the city. Known as one of Spain’s loudest parties, Tamborrada takes over the city with echoes of the “March of San Sebastián” song that drummers beat all day until the flag is lowered. In addition to drums and dancing, Tamborrada honors San Sebastián’s distinctive culinary history. The drummers dressed in chef uniforms pay tribute to the city’s culinary clubs, known as sociedades gastronómicas.

For $45 per person, guests will enjoy unlimited bites from stations around the restaurant, each highlighting different flavors of Basque country.

The menu will feature traditional pintxos, grilled meats, cheese, charcuterie, seafood, and a churro and brandy toast finale. Popular Cooks & Soldiers menu items, such as the bikini and chistorra in a blanket, will also be served.

VIP tickets are also available for $70 per person, including unlimited food, brandy and churro toast, a branded tasting glass and all-you-can-drink txakoli, beer, cider, red and white wine, and gin and tonics.

Throughout the evening, Cooks & Soldiers will entertain guests with Tamborrada rituals including costumes, chef processions through the dining room; Basque-style drumming; and a live stream projection of the celebration in San Sebastián. Branded t-shirts will be available for purchase.
