The Art Of Being Human: Shambhala Training Level I says
Meditation sharpens our intelligence and uncovers our wisdom. In this program, participants receive practical instructions for transforming confused emotions and situations into effective actions as they arise. No longer deterred or depressed by obstacles, we can include everything as part of the path. Daily life challenges can become opportunities for both contemplative practice and social action.

Through the practice of meditation, we glimpse unconditional goodness as the ground of our existence. Opening to ourselves with gentleness and appreciation, we begin to see our potential as genuine and compassionate human beings. Thus we can discover how to live with a clear mind, a gentle heart and a sense of humor.

This program is recommended for new and experienced meditators, as well as for those looking to enrich their existing spiritual path.

Valerie Morvan sat her first dathun (four-week retreat) in 1988; she followed that January activity with Vajrayana Seminary in the summer. She attended Kalapa Assembly in 2003 and completed the Vajrayogini Abhisheka training in June of 2008. Valerie holds her MSW from Florida State University and was the Atlanta Center Director for eight years. Valerie completed her first Scorpion Seal in 2010. When she first met Chogyam Trungpa, she says, “I became aware of what was possible for human beings.”

Our Generosity Policy: We want to make our offerings available to all who wish to participate. If the program price is an obstacle for you, please consider what works for you, and offer as much of the program fee as you can.

For those who can offer more than the standard program price, we have a “patron price.” Your generosity in offering the patron price helps cover the costs for others who are not able to pay the full price.
