“ Wave Swelling.
Wave Building.
Wave Breaking.
Wave Shimmering.
Wave Expanding out and down and back to -
Waves A practice. A journey. A sea for love.”
Tammy Burstein, NYC

Nothing to know, no steps to learn. just a room full of willing bodies moving freely. Join us as we dance this powerful modality for two hours on the eve of this amazing Chantlanta festival.

Danny Stern's percussion joins Smith Hanes for an evening of 5Rhythms movement.

Friday nights are a night to dance full the week we've had, the weekend to come. Join us at Chantlanta to dance the practice created by Gabrielle Roth, 5Rhythms

Bring layers and dance shoes or no shoes. Bring friends, Get ready. For a sea for Love.

This is a drop in class, everyone is invited. There are no steps to learn, no one can do it wrong.
We move constantly for 2 hours so please bring water or come hydrated and bring a towel AND a friend.
In the wave, we move in 5 energies that live in us all….
Flowing, Staccato , Chaos Lyrical, and Stillness. When practiced in succession, we call this a WAVE, a meditation practiced developed by Gabrielle Roth.
“It is not about getting lost in the dance, but being found in the dance.”

— Gabrielle Roth

Developed by Gabrielle Roth in the 1970s, the 5Rhythms is a simple, powerful moving meditation that anyone – of any age, size, or physical ability – can practice. There are no steps to follow, no choreography to learn, no way to do it wrong. The only requirement is a body that is still breathing, a heart that is still beating, and mind that is still curious! Just like light, sound or ocean waves, a dancing body when moving freely passes through five distinct rhythmic patterns. These patterns continuously repeat themselves in a wave of motion. The 5Rhythms are:
FLOWING
the fluid, continuous, grounded glide of our own movements
STACCATO
the percussive, pulsing beat that shapes us a thousand different ways
CHAOS
the rhythm of letting go, releasing into the catalytic wildness of our dance that can never be planned or repeated
LYRICAL
the rhythm of trance, where the weight of self-consciousness dissolves, where we lighten up and disappear into our own uniqueness
STILLNESS
the quiet emptiness, where gentle movements rise and fall, start and end, in a field of silence
