8:00 :: Twin Courage (Greenville, SC) - indie, folk, americana, acoustic

"...a fruitful endevour; tight with vocals, creatively paced, and lining up enough melodies to keep the cursor hovering over repeat." -Birmingham Review, UK

Rachael Gallman and Jaron Ferrer met for the first time somewhere around 2007 on a church stage somewhere to practice for a high school Battle of the Bands. Their band did not win, but the two have since been accompanying each other in various musical endeavors including indie rock bands and a professional jazz quartet.

Twin Courage serves to combine their long history of good times and large repertoire of original music into a thought-provoking but palatable, quirky but harmonious, stripped-down but well-honed musical entity to reach the souls of people who appreciate a good moment in time.

RIYL: The Everybodyfields, Lucinda Williams, Carol King, Midlake, Eisley, Ella Fitzgerald

9:00 :: Sonny Houston Band

The Sonny Houston Band is an ensemble of the best local bluegrass performers including multi-instrumentalist Sonny Houston, mandolinist David Mold, bassist Elizabeth Perry, and maybe a few other folks on any given night. They play all sorts of bluegrass tunes, both traditional and original, with amazing vocal harmonies and superb musicianship.

Sonny Houston is a Dahlonega resident originally from the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. He has maintained a life-long interest in the music and culture of the Appalachian coalfields. Born and raised in an East Kentucky coal camp, he learned the rudiments of four-part a cappella harmony singing from his family and the Hemphill Church of Christ. He sought out local musicians who taught him to play guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle and bass. He is known for the haunting power of his Appalachian folk music singing and his dexterity and versatility as an instrumentalist.
