Hidden Heart Hike
Feb 14, 3 PM to 4:30 PM
Fort Mountain State Park - Chatsworth
In the 1930s, the Civilian Conservation Corps built the 38 foot fire tower at Fort Mountain. A young stone mason carved a heart out of a stone and placed it in the tower for his love. Join a ranger and hike the CCC Stone Tower Trail. Learn more about this romantic gesture, and see it for yourself. $5 parking. 706-422-1932.

Romantic Sunset Valentine Dinner On The Train

SAM Shortline Train at Georgia Veterans State Park - Cordele
Departing from Georgia Veterans State Park, we'll take a short ride and park over beautiful Lake Blackshear as the sun is setting. After dinner, we will take a nighttime train ride through the Sumter County countryside before returning to the park. 229-276-0755.

The Tale of Sautee and Nacoochee

Smithgall Woods State Park - Helen
Learn the story of star-crossed lovers Sautee and Nacoochee, a local legend that has influenced this mountain community. Listen to a presentation before taking a guided walk around Hardman Farm to view the “burial place” of the fated lovers. Come for the legend, but stay for the truth of what resides in the Nacoochee Indian Mound. $5 plus $5 parking. 706-878-3087.
