UUCA - Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta says
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta Performing Arts Coordinating Team (PACT) is pleased to announce the next Wine, Cheese, and the Spoken Word event for Friday, July 8, 7:30 pm, in the Underground Theatre, featuring Kim Green, and hosted by the Rev. Duncan Teague.

Kim Green, national and international music journalist, essayist, poet, ghostwriter, and novelist, is a congregant at UUCA. She was a featured author in the African American serial novel, When Butterflies Kiss (Silver Lion Press) and a contributor to the anthology Proverbs for the People (Dafina Books). In addition, Kim co-wrote the Last Poets tome, On a Mission: Selected Poems and a History of the Last Poets (Henry Holt); was the ghostwriter for Life Is Not a Fairytale, the autobiography of 2004 American Idol winner, Fantasia Barrino; and collaborated with entertainer Ja Rule on his memoir, Unruly: The Highs and Lows of Becoming a Man (Harper Collins). Her debut novel, hallucination, won a Writer’s Digest Honorable Mention. She will be reading from her recently completed second novel, The Vicissitudes.

An open mic session between the two sets of readings by the featured Spoken Word artist offers local poets the opportunity to share their work. Wine, soft drinks, and cheese will be available. Any questions about this event or the series (occurs the second Friday of each month) should be sent to Carol Welter, at welterdelis@gmail.com. The Underground Theatre is the primary performing arts venue of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta, 1911 Cliff Valley Way NE, Atlanta, 30329 (alternate address for the parking lot: 1597 Interstate-85 Frontage Road, Atlanta, GA 30329). Doors open at 7 pm; readings are from 7:30-9:30 pm. Suggested admission donation is $5, but no one is turned away. PLEASE NOTE: The readings may contain adult content and language.
