Pizza lovers in Thailand can now enjoy famous wood-fired pizzas from Brooklyn without flying to New York, as Roberta’s has opened its first location in Bangkok on the 3rd Floor of the Flavor Lab at Siam Discovery.

Debuting in winter 2007 at an old warehouse in Brooklyn, Roberta’s has gained popularity as a favorite local haunt known for its wood-fired Neapolitan-style pies and hipster vibe. Celebrities and public figures such as Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and even Bill and Hillary Clinton have been spotted enjoying meals at this pizzeria. Now, it expands its presence to ten locations across the USA and Asia, including New York, Los Angeles, Nashville, Miami, Singapore, and recently Thailand.

Roberta’s executive chef and co-founder, Carlo Mirarchi, came to Bangkok to oversee Thailand’s official launch at Siam Discovery and explained why his team chose this location for the first branch in Thailand.

“There are a variety of exciting events happening in this vibrant shopping mall. We also love that we can see Bangkok’s city view from the location,” he explained.

The self-taught, two-Michelin-star chef also shared that the key to Roberta’s success is its expansive menu. “There’s more to Roberta’s than pizza. We also serve pastas, bread, charcuterie, and much more. Additionally, when we open a new outlet, we always try to incorporate local ingredients, tastes, and techniques into our food. At the Thailand branch, we’re using a lot of local Thai fruits, meats, and herbs in many dishes.”

The Thailand outpost features a 65-seater restaurant with a full-service dining concept. Its decoration is inspired by the Brooklyn hipster headquarters, featuring cool graffiti and impressive mural paintings. Two Thai artists, Artty Rock and Anar, were also selected to create their showcases at this Bangkok branch, and their works will subsequently be rotated to Los Angeles and New York. It is Roberta's determination to expose local creators’ masterpieces to the international stage.

On the menu, its crispy-crust signatures, made with the same starter as the Brooklyn branch, include the classic Neapolitan “Margherita,” the much-loved “Bee Sting,” which is a balanced blend of sweet honey and spicy Italian salami, and the “King Thao Kong,” an aromatic herb pizza named after its Hmong ingredient producer in Los Angeles.

Roberta’s Rigatoni Carbonara is another must-try. This traditional pasta dish made with eggs, cheese, guanciale, and no cream will satisfy your craving for classic Italian fare. You also can’t go wrong with its fluffy bread, baked with the house’s pizza dough. Rip and dip it in the concoction of homemade stracciatella cheese and shredded spicy Nduja. The taste is so perfect that you won’t be able to get enough of it.

Those who love meat can treat themselves to Braised Oxtails and Grilled Pork Ribs. But if you’re looking for something refreshing, we recommend Chicken Tendon and Squid Ink or Mango and Lardo.
