What’s a Songkran celebration without the parties? The Thai New Year is synonymous to three days of crazy water battles, non-stop dancing, and, of course, having drinks with friends.

But when people are out having fun and drinking with friends they can easily forget to pace themselves — excessive alcohol consumption combined with Bangkok’s scorching heat can lead to dehydration and, before you know it, things can get out of hand. But not this year.

Thanks to Pernod Ricard's creative efforts, there should be a more memorable and responsible party experience this year. This Songkran, the global wine and spirits group is sending out vibrant blue tuktuks throughout Bangkok to introduce a new way to enjoy the festivities, and that’s by drinking more…water!

These tuktuks are part of Pernod Ricard's global “Drink More Water” campaign, which encourages partygoers to practise responsible drinking and help prevent things from getting out of hand by keeping themselves in check and consuming water alongside alcoholic beverages. This award-winning campaign was first introduced digitally in 2021 and is being launched on-the-ground in Thailand for the first time during the 2024 Songkran holidays.

From April 13 to 15, these water-bearing tuktuks will be making stops at key Songkran locations all around the city, including Khaosan Road, Silom Road, Siam, centralwOlrd, and RCA at Rama 9.

Manned by leading influencers Pingpong, GOT, Zani, and Uno Laothong, these tuktuks will distribute free bottles of water to festival goers, encouraging them to drink responsibly and stay hydrated. So if you spot one, be sure to say “hello” and grab a bottle!

(Here's a tip: Consuming large amounts of water after dehydration can shock your bodily functions. Drinking small amounts of water frequently is more effective.)

In the scorching heat of the Thai summer, staying hydrated is crucial for a fun and safe celebration, regardless of whether you're indulging in alcoholic drinks or not. To learn more about Pernod Ricard's 'Drink More Water' campaign, visit www.drinkmorewater.asia.
