SO Sofitel Hua Hin is that kind of resort that takes the concept of escapism to another level. The luxurious accommodation, apart from offering a quick weekend getaway from hectic urban life, also allows your suppressed inner child to wander freely, thanks to gimmicky interiors and elements that try their best to transport you to a magical land. 

The resort is actually located in secluded Cha-Am Beach, which is just half an hour away from the more crowded beaches of Hua Hin. You’re whisked off to storybook fantasy upon arrival as a rabbit statue holding a clock (a nod to the White Rabbit in Alice in the Wonderland) greets you at the entrance. A majestic white marble staircase leads to the lobby. There are two room styles to choose from — SO Nature exemplifies simplicity through soft hues, blond wood furniture and nature photography by New Zealander photographer Martin Hill, while SO Arty sees avant-garde artwork by American artist Lois Greenfield— and four room categories including SO Studio, SO Lofty Pool Access, SO Family Suites and One-Bedroom SO Pool Villas. The studio room is spacious enough, and comes with a large double bed, circular bathtub, and a Chromecast-ready TV.

Three swimming pools give you more choice for recreation or relaxation at SO Sofitel Hua Hin. The main pool features an Wibit Adventure Float, an inflatable obstacle course, similar to the one in hilarious reality show Wipeout (yet less extreme), that will test you and your friends’ balance and stamina. If you’re after a more peaceful poolside experience’s, there’s the SO Pool and adults-only Solarium pool, which you'll find cabanas and sunbeds to laze around the whole day.

The resort also proffers impressive dining options. White Oven, the main dining room, serves breakfast daily (try having breakie with a Bellini cocktail), as well as bold-flavored Thai dishes for lunch and dinner. Beach Society is an ideal place to wind down at sunset with your favorite cocktail followed by a seafood-focused dinner. SO Sofitel is also famous for their SO Beach Party, which is organized every three or four months. The grass lawn connecting to the beach is magically transformed into a dance floor where Thailand’s hottest DJs spin a playlist of eclectic tunes, and where the drinks and food come from a small pop-up food market. The next SO Beach Party is set on 1 June and will take on a drag theme to celebrate pride month.
