In 2019 the Langham Boston closed for a complete gut renovation and did not reopen until last year. The goal of the renovation was to bring the historic property back to its former glory. Previously the home of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, the stately building has an impressive back story, so the task was to honor its legacy while bringing the hotel forward and that is exactly what the team managed to do.

The renovation

The renovation of the Langham Boston consisted of a top to bottom refurbishment of all the guest rooms, suites, ball rooms and restaurants, completely reinventing what the hotel would be for the years to come. Located in the heart of the Financial District, the Langham Boston is a crucial part of the downtown landscape and like the other signature properties across the world, the Langham Boston drew upon both local inspiration and international appeal to create a world class place to stay, dine or celebrate.

Inspiration from Langham London

If you visit both properties, it will be clear almost immediately, that the Langham Boston incorporated some of the best aspects of the Langham London when reconceptualizing what the new and improved hotel would bring to the neighborhood. From the restaurants, to the club to the design of the guest rooms, the Boston property took several cues from its London sister, which also happen to be the most convincing reasons to pay the hotel a visit this summer.

Why visit the Langham Boston

First, the hotel’s casual restaurant, the Fed, located on the lobby level of the hotel feels like a beautifully Boston version of the Wigmore, the pub at the Langham London. Both are a convivial place to meet friends for drinks, take a date out to dinner or to just enjoy a snack by the bar when traveling solo. In Boston, the Fed’s stylish design brings the idea of a pub into modern day, while still maintaining all the beloved aspects of your local pub—the friendly service, approachable menu, and comfortable atmosphere—just as the Wigmore does in London.

Next, Langham Hotels are made for the luxury traveler looking for all the comforts of home while away in another city. One of the ways that Langham caters to these types of travelers is with their clubs. The Langham Club in Boston borrowed the look and feel of the Langham London Club by offering lots of varied types of seating for guests to work, dine or enjoy a glass of wine. The Langham Club is available complimentary to guests in any of the Executive Club Rooms or Suites, and guests in other rooms may purchase a day pass for $150.

Last, when you stay at the Langham Boston, you feel as if your sophisticated friend has let you borrow their apartment for the night. The marble bathrooms, the luxurious linens and the smart deep blue accents help you feel at home as soon as you walk through the door. This is another characteristic the hotel has with the Langham London as well, a true feeling of a home away from home.

Visiting the Langham Boston

The Langham Boston is a place to visit whether you are a local or a visitor. If you are a visitor looking for a beautiful hotel to call home for the weekend, this is a great choice. And if you are a local, book a table at the Fed and sit at the large marble bar in the center of the dining room to feel as if everyone knows your name and perhaps by the end of the night they will!
