The drive to Newton is well worth it.

Da LaPosta is one of those rare reasons why it is worth driving out of the city for dinner, if you live downtown. As soon as the first dish arrives you see the passion of the chef and owner, Mario LaPosta. Everything is made from scratch, the bread, the cheeses, the sauces—everything. The restaurant is marketed as a pizzeria, but it is so much more than that. Da LaPosta deserves a spot on your list this season; it may be brand new but we even put it on our list of the best restaurants in Boston right now!

Located in Newtonville, Da LaPosta is a 20-minute drive (traffic dependent) from downtown Boston. But trust me the drive is worth it! Chef LaPosta has pulled out all the stops when it comes to creating his cuisine. From homemade ricotta to marinated mushrooms to a perfectly cooked chicken parmigiana, there is not only something for everybody, but there is something for the person who has already tried everything in Boston.

The hardest thing for a chef to do is to both surprise and delight diners, visit after visit. But at Da LaPosta, you could try something different on the menu each visit and be equally as awed as the previous visit. As you work your way through the menu, the experience keeps getting better and better.

You could stop by for a quick weeknight bite with pals or a Friday night date. The atmosphere is relaxed, intimate and buzzing all at the same time, exactly what we all want in a neighborhood restaurant.

While Da LaPosta is new to the restaurant scene, its chef is not.

Mario La Posta has been making pizza since he was 15 years old and has worked at Bricco in West Hartford, CT, Tarry Lodge in both NY and CT and Babbo Pizzeria e Enoteca in Boston. He has also worked abroad in Rome and Campania, Italy. So, while his passion for food comes from the heart, his expertise comes from over 20 years of practice.

Next week, the restaurant is hosting a special wine dinner on September 28. The night will feature a five course meal, complete with wine pairings for $95/person and you can book your table online. But whether you can make it in for the special wine dinner or not, add Da LaPosta to your fall dining list, because it is one of the best Italian restaurants in the Boston area right now and just the place to spend a chilly fall evening.
