JetBlue opens new BlueHouse lounge at Logan Airport today, and it comes with a hidden candy closet

Logan Airport has a lot to recommend it (including when it comes to international flight deals) but nothing quite compares to a hidden candy closet. Is the airport about to be a highlight of vacation?

It might be after JetBlue’s second BlueHouse lounge officially opens at Boston Logan International Airport’s Terminal C today, August 27. The 12,000-square-foot space is designed to feel like a stylish New England home, but in this one, someone else makes the cocktails and nobody judges you for eating candy for breakfast.

At the center is the Neighborhood Bar, topped with a Nantucket Blue wood-slatted ceiling and a custom lighting feature inspired by Boston’s iconic beacon. The food is similarly New England-coded, with options including North Shore roast beef sliders and crab and shrimp rolls. (We'll just trust that airport seafood at this particular location is okay.) Cocktails were developed by Boston beverage director Jackson Cannon, while George Howell Coffee handles the specialty coffee and espresso. But don't worry—there's also New England craft beer from The Publick House.

But the real reason to make a beeline for BlueHouse may be the Candy Closet, a secret-ish sweet spot stocked by Madeleine’s Candy Shop. Travelers can fill custom-designed carry-on candy bags with treats, which is perhaps the most compelling argument yet for premium airport lounge access.

There’s also a game room called The Dugout (be prepared for Boston sports fanatics) and a Boston Public Library-inspired Library Workspace, plus private rooms for calls and virtual meetings.

The opening also comes with a major change to who gets into BlueHouse. Starting August 27, complimentary access will be available to eligible customers departing on confirmed Mint or Mint Flex fares, both domestic and international. JetBlue will also introduce a lower-priced Mint Base fare in the coming weeks, but that won't include BlueHouse access or complimentary advance seat selection. 

So while Logan might be undergoing some turbulence this summer, there are still treats to be had. In the case of BlueHouse, literally.
