"Hello.

This is BIGHIT Music"

An opening sentence to an official notice issued on Weverse, a South Korean fan engagement platform, today, has sent waves across the globe with fans screaming and jumping up and down in their living rooms (trust me, I was), offices, cafés, you name it, as BTS confirm their upcoming world tour locations.

In what is a historical moment for ARMYs across the world, fans waited patiently for this announcement following a statement shared on Weverse on January 4.

In what felt like a painstaking 10 days of nerves, anxiety, and shared uncertainty, paired with never-ending theories on tour locations, the announcement marks a pivotal moment for fans across the world.

The global world tour announcement follows the long-awaited comeback after the group's military enlistment period, with their last world tour taking place in 2019.

A longer wait

In September 2025, Big Concerts posted a teaser to their social media pages, posing the question, "Mzanzi ARMY, what do you think? Should BTS light up South Africa with a live show?" The answer was, of course, a resounding yes, with fans across the country pleading for South Africa's leading live entertainment promoter to make it a reality.

After months of speculation, the announcement which currently makes no mention of a South Africa tour, does hint towards the possibility with the official poster stating 'more cities to be announced 2027, Japan, Middle East & More'.

While this announcement may come as a heart wrenching notification to many South African ARMYs anticipating a performance, we will have to wait until the future tour announcement for 2027 is made.

Over their 13-year career, the multi-award-winning music group has expressed interest in visiting South Africa in several interviews, and given their fan base in South Africa, we have no doubt that fans are eagerly anticipating that the future tour announcement will include a stop in the country.

In an interview with HollyWire, the group was asked the question, ''What country are you excited to go to next?"

Min Yoongi, rapper, prominent songwriter, and a producer for the group, stepped up to the mic with a definitive and resounding answer, "South Africa". While this interview did take place eight years ago, could it signal hope of a possible tour? Only time will tell.

Everything we know so far

The BTS 2026 world tour will kick off at Goyang Stadium in South Korea in April and the group will travel to major cities including Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, London, Paris, and more.

The upcoming album

The tour announcement precedes the anticipated release of their latest album, BTS The 5th Album, which will officially be released on 20 March 2026.

The release of their latest album marks a pivotal moment for the group as it will be their first album release in over three years, and according to an official statement issued on Weverse, the album will contain 14 tracks and be an indication of the "direction the group will take going forward".

As no surprise to ARMY, the album promises to showcase the talented group's musical artistry and each artist's emotional vulnerability, sharing the struggles they have experienced along their journey, an element of their music that has captured the hearts of millions of fans across the world.

We can only hope that the 2027 tour schedule will result in ARMY Bombs lighting up the sky with the iconic fan chant (Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Kim Taehyung, Jeon Jungkook, BTS!!) echoing through South Africa.
