Local shops in Cascais transformed into art galleries

Until September 12, shop windows around the town will be showcasing works by different artists.

From August 29 to September 12, Cascais shops turn into an open-air gallery, with window displays showcasing works by a range of artists – from sculptures to paintings. It’s the first edition of COM.arte, an initiative by the Cascais Business Association, curated by Oficina do Desenho.

Taking part in the project are shops like Auguri, Cork4All, Dr. Kid, Everessence, Joalharia da Villa, Loja Viva, Pédemeia, Perfume Arte, Pipinhas & Companhia, Portugalidades and Spell – all with artworks brightening up their windows. As for the artists, expect pieces by Sophia Nicholson, Cristina Gil, Ivone Gaipi, Mianah, Suzanne Vanden Schrieck, Renato Abreu, Teresa Sousa, Inês Galvão, Marta Lowndes, Tiago Chagas and the duo Ema Ribeiro & Maria José Rosa.

On September 19, a panel of experts will choose the best shopfront – and the artist behind it – awarding them the Prize for Excellence.
