Motorists, ease off the accelerator: between December 3 and 19, traffic on the Marginal near Parede will face new restrictions as the second phase of the cliff-stabilisation works progresses between Praia da Bafureira and Praia da Parede. The two lanes in the Cascais–Lisbon direction will be completely closed, as will the adjacent pedestrian area, forcing a reorganisation of traffic on a stretch that is usually very busy.
But there’s no need to change your routines or abandon your usual routes. Traffic will remain assured: the council has confirmed that temporary signage will be installed, allowing vehicles to travel in both directions using only the Lisbon–Cascais carriageway, which should help reduce the expected impact during this period.
Parking next to Praia da Parede will also be affected. Part of the car park will be closed, although the council guarantees access to private properties and restaurants, as well as the passage of emergency vehicles.
To speed up the works and reduce the duration of disruption, night-time interventions are planned in an effort to shorten the construction timetable and minimise the inconvenience for those who live, work or travel in this part of the municipality.
